Yes, You Can Have Children!
In this day and age, we no longer limit our definition of parenting to a two-party arrangement consisting of a mommy and a daddy. There are countless same-sex couples who want to raise their own children in a loving home, while an increasing number of single men and women have decided that waiting for Mr. or Ms. Right simply isn’t necessary (and might result in them never having children at all).
Here at Palm Beach Fertility Center we fully support the heartfelt desire to create families based on either traditional or alternative parenting — and we have the techniques and expertise to help make it possible.
Many Methods for Modern Families
- Women – Single women or lesbian couples can become pregnant by making use of donor sperm. We can fertilize the eggs through one of two methods, IVF (in vitro fertilization) or IUI (intrauterine insemination). The former method fertilizes the egg in the lab before implanting it in the uterus, while the latter places the donor sperm directly into the uterus during the days you are most likely to ovulate. Both methods have proven highly effective.
- Men – Single men and gay couples can use their sperm to fertilize donor eggs. The fertilized egg then grows to term as an embryo inside a gestational carrier. A gestational carrier is usually in her twenties to mid-forties. Gestational carriers do not use their own eggs rather those of an egg donor. Gestational carriers have successfully borne children in the past. If you hire a gestational carrier, you must set and agree to detailed contractual terms regarding pregnancy and delivery costs, implantation, fetal testing and other issues.
